![]() ![]() I am told that these lenses that start with the zeros were made for communist party members or special editions of some sort. ![]() It's a 44-2 and odd in the fact that the serial number is 0000919. Helios-44-2 58mm bokeah in dark (ISO 800) I have a Helios-44 and the bokeh at f/2 is like this :ĭeusXFlorida (12,296,204 views) - Wow - thanks guy There are bokeh kinds which are better for some pictures, and some for other pictures. Actually do not understand many discussions about quality of bokeh. I don't know how to insert picture with my comment. You can see some samples from my photostream. But with close subjects, the 44M performs beautifully.Īfaik there is a PK version of the Helios 44. Unfortunately, the M42-PK infinity-focus adaptors haven't arrived from Shanghai yet. That's the distinctive helios bokeh though! :D i love it personally! :DĪ Helio 44M arrived in the mail from Kiev a few days ago. when shooting less than 4.5, the background can be rendered quite busy and annoying, as in this one I too had the 44-2, but for real, one must be careful about the background. Pay some attention to handling (whether you want auto aperture or rather need to avoid it, etc.) and go. I would not bother with counting resolution lines, MTF charts, ra ra ra. It's terrific! The truth is, for portraits any member of the Helios-44 family will do a great job. I have the Helios-44-2, single coated and with preset aperture. They otherwise look the same but I haven't done any optical comparisons. I agree it would be useful to have a list of such differences and my two are these:Ĥ4M-4 This came with my Zenit 11 and when I wanted to attach it with an adapter to my Olympus E-330 I found that I could only use it at f2 because it can only be stopped down by the auto diaphragm being operated by the Zenit body on the pin.Ĥ4M I had to buy this one because of its Auto/Manual diaphragm switch on the side of the lens so that I could use it with my E-330. Sniffing around, I learned that there are at least four versions of this lens, and I was wondering if anyone knows some versions that are significantly better than others, enough to warrant an upgrade (say to version 6 or, alternately, to some earlier version that has a better reputation for build or sharpness or contrast or what not). I have a Helios 44M-4 lens, which works well enough on my Pentax DSLR that I plan to transplant ti to the upcoming Nikon even though I will lose infinity focus. ![]()
